Do I need a lift ticket?  I don’t plan to use the chairlift.

Yes.  Your lift ticket is your entrance to use the mountain facility.  Even if you do not plan to use the chairlift, you must have a valid lift ticket.  There are surface lifts in the beginner areas that function like moving sidewalks for the snow.  Your feet do not leave the ground but it will get you back to the top of the hill.  Every person, no matter the age must have a valid ticket loaded onto an RFID card.

What is an RFID card?

An RFID card is the media we use to electronically hold your lift ticket or tubing ticket at Ski Big Bear.  In order to go tubing, skiing or snowboarding, you must have an RFID card.  It is assigned to one specific person and can be reloaded.  In other words, do not destroy or dispose of your RFID card.  It can be used the next time you visit.

How do I use my RFID card?

If you purchased a ticket and your RFID card for the first time, you will use the pick up boxes outside the ticket booth to scan your barcode and the machine will print your RFID card.  If you already are in possession of your RFID card and reloaded it with a new ticket, your ticket is already on your card.  You do not need to go to the ticket booth or the pick up box.  On the day you ski or snowboard, place your RFID card with a loaded valid ticket in your left pocket away from your cell phone.  We recommend putting your cell phone in your right pocket.  Do not punch a hole in your RFID card.  The ticket booth sells armbands that will hold your RFID card if you do not want to keep it in your pocket.  Your RFID card is reloadable.  Do not destroy, damage or dispose your RFID card.

Do I have to pay for my child 5 years and younger?

Children 5 years of age and younger receive a complimentary ski lift ticket with a paying adult.  The RFID card is required and the appropriate fee will be applied when you first obtain it.  Your RFID card is reloadable.  Do not destroy, damage or dispose your RFID card.  Tubing tickets for children 5 years and younger are charged at the regular price.

Does my lift ticket include tubing?

A lift ticket does not include tubing.  Tubing tickets are purchased separately for a specific date and time.

How old/tall must you be to go tubing?

Any participant at tubing must be at least 42” tall.  Even when riding with an adult, a child must meet the minimum height requirement of 42”.

Are helmets required for skiing or snowboarding?

Helmets are required when taking a lesson, and we recommend them for all skiers and riders.  Helmets are available for rent daily or can be purchased at the ticket booth.
